What is most important in the design of an apartment or house on the sea coast: color palette, country style elements, connection with the exterior?
What are the most uninteresting decisions and what are the most common mistakes? We figure it out together with the designers.
Maria Gubina: “Interior in light colors with blue shades is a common cliché”
“In my experience, a popular cliché associated with seaside apartment design is all about the palette. Many people believe that the interior should be decorated in light colors with blue and blue shades in furniture and details.
In my practice, I have never encountered such requirements from customers. Typically, clients want my vision and ideas. And in interior design, I start not only from the view from the window, but also from the context, the surrounding architecture, and the status of the clients. For example, we decided to decorate one of the apartments in the style of an expensive yacht: the idea came from the customer’s love for Art Deco, the apartment’s existing low ceilings and panoramic sea views.
But I also don’t see any problem in making the interior the expected white and blue. Perhaps this has been the customer’s dream since childhood. And the designer’s task is to bring this dream to life as beautifully, stylishly and conveniently as possible.”
