Carlstein castle was built in the middle of the XIV in. Not far from Prague Charles I, then the Czech king. This man entered the annals of history under a different name – Charles IV, the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. Charlstein Castle – a large and complex complex of structures interconnected by courtyards – was considered almost impregnable. The prevertible courtyard and fortress gates, premises, the imperial castle and the Ascension Church of the Virgin Mary, as well as the central tower – the highest construction of Karlstein have survived. The northwestern part of the castle is strengthened by the tower of the top, it is located to the left of the entrance gate built in XV in. From the second court to the third, to the royal palace, the church and the main tower with the chapel of the Holy Cross, you can get through special gates. The tiny chapel of St. Catherine is the personal chapel of Karl IV. The figures of the king and his wife, as well as the Madonna on the throne and the saints, patronizing the Czech Republic, froze over the entrance; plastered walls are inlaid with gems and semi -carbon stones.
