Characteristic features of the design of houses in the Mediterranean style

Mediterranean style homes have several features that make them unique

Plastered and painted walls. They are built from any blocks, you can use aerated concrete, which is popular today, but in any case, plaster is used both inside and outside the house. It can be painted in any warm shade; fresh white, light yellow, brown, and beige can be used. Natural tones allow the house to fit perfectly into the surrounding landscape.

The roof is always tiled. It is advisable to use traditional red ceramic tiles, which will immediately distinguish the house from its neighbors. In general, you can choose modern metal tiles, also red, but the fake will be noticeable.

The shape of the house is most often rectangular and strict, but extensions are allowed. In any case, there are no curved complex lines.

There are one or two floors, no more, which is the norm for private buildings.

Doorways (there can be two of them – the front door and the exit to the backyard) are arched. The entrance door is solid, wooden or imitating wood texture. It’s a good idea to complement the picture with a massive door handle, a knocker instead of a bell, and other decorative details.

If the house has a balcony, it is always open, with a wrought-iron fence.

Windows can be plastic, but look like wood. They usually have beautiful wrought iron grilles, shutters or awnings installed on them, which protect the rooms from the sun’s rays.

The picture is complemented by a recreation area and an open terrace under a canopy.
